Standards - June MeetingPaul Yurt founder of MasterMOZ.com generated a lively discussion about standards from the perspective of the PHP community. No one was ignored and this was not as dry as it sounds. This 6/26 meeting explored standards from the perspective of what people expect when they talk about developing, coding and techniques to standards. Explored were coding styles and basics such as spacing, indentation, variable names, case, line length and the like. But these aspects are only the starting point for "standards" as we then follow the more interesting standards of coding by exploring code resources and online communities including open source repositories such as; pear found at pear.php.net & zend found at framework.zend.com. Paul explored the difficulties he experienced in bringing open source libraries and code into the the mastermoz directory project framework. He explains the challenge the mastermoz project faced when integrating code from various sources into the unified mastermoz space. Further discussion followed the evolution of PHP as it supports objects, OO and objective coding. |
