Most group communication happens through the mailing list.

You can sign up on the list here, various delivery options such as daily digests are supported.

The list also has archives available but you'll need to sign up to read them. This is done to keep spammers from mining the archives, and you can sign up for the list and set your options so no mail is delivered if you just want to read the archives.

Excel to mysql

Attempting to convert a csv file to a .sql file for import into mysql.

Trying to do an add replace in notepad results in a locked program as the file contains 40k+ rows.

Anyone know a better way to do this? or know where I can get a zipcode database on the cheap ?

What's the .csv file look

What's the .csv file look like? I'm sure you could whip up a little php script that would prevent you from find-and-replace madness via notepad.

Thank you!!

NancyJ - Thank you every one who talked to me yesterday. I learned alot and couldn't wait to apply it to my current project. I'm not sure how to view the archive. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you again.

Nancy

mysql problem

I have been working on a php web site hosted with godaddy. I need to be able to link an arcgis map located on my companies files to the mysql database being used by my web site. Godaddy told me that their security does not allow for outside links. Do you know of a hosting site that will allow me to link to the database from outside of the web system?

Thanks,

Nancy

Job opportunity

I have a long term contract assignment with an IMMEDIATE start date. The consultant must be strong in XML, XSLT, ASP and JavaScript. This person will take ownership of a key project effort and needs to be able to work independently while also functioning in a team environment. This position is open b/c the current consultant needs to move out of the area for personal reasons…he's been on contract there for a year and could be there MUCH longer if not for the move.

The only hitch: the assignment is in the Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina area. I'm hoping someone in your group is open to a travel assignment or interested in relocating.

Please respond to mmazer@premieralliance.com or call me at 1-800-521-8077.

Project Salvage - Undo Indian Programming

I have a project that is a little over a year old. I am looking for a php programmer that I can trust. This project originally started with a programmer in India. Since then I've hired three other programmers who have all charged me a variety of fees to tell me that what was done previously was not very good, and should be re-designed.

I am interested in getting this project running at 100% of it's original specifications. From there, the site will expand and require many billable hours.

I am frustrated with the inconsistency I have experienced from programmer to programmer. I'm savvy, but not very php literate. I have a tertiary understanding of database structure. I am looking for a programmer and thought a users group would be a good place to start.

Is there anyone among you who would have an interest in exploring this project with me? You can view the current project at www.iftareport.com. You can create an account using jibberish if you like and poke around. If it is of interest to you, let me know and we can discuss the project privately.

Papa.

Hmmm

Shoot me off an email...after having a look at your website, I just might be interested in doing some part time work.

Email name is trucex and it's at gmail, which is dot com.

Had to break it up to keep from spambots that can't read real language...haha.
